OOC YSS Kaiyō II Discussion

Oh! Today is for me! I've been saying nice things about everyone. I like that I've kept with the plot : ) It'll be ten years next year and that's a long time to stick with something creative, especially a hobby project. I just think that's neat it's been going that long and I'm proud of myself for that endeavor. Through thick and thin, I've held up.

Well, @raz gave some beautiful and kind words for me so... right back at ya.

I wouldn't be here if not for raz. I joined because I wanted to write with him, sure. But he's also helped me stay when times got tough. He's grounding and my rock. Every mission there are a dozen posts of his where I am reminded why I joined, too. I just like reading what he writes.

If everyone understood how amazing of a character Aiko is, it would feel less special to know her. So, we keep that knowledge sequestered to those that read raz's RP posts. She is often making choices that both surprise me and make total sense. She's the epitome of what women in combat-based fiction can be, too. Cool, badass, and a hero–I could be describing either raz or her ; )

My plans for the next mission and thereafter are really starting to take more formed shapes and I wanted to see—does anyone have directions or explorations that they want to go with their characters? DM me!!

For the next mission I believe Sif will have skills from SAIC that will help and maybe Molli will find that her right hand is capable of facing danger alone... or not :skullemoji:

I don't have specific directions for any other characters, please give me your needs and wants!

I want Erika to grow as a leader, so opportunities to participate in mission planning would be good.

I also like dietetic ways of discussing thoughts. Think for example that JP I did with Gunhand/William or Gles/Molly. With William I felt there was some instant comradery there, where as Molly was much more guarded. I thought both were cool.

I'll suggest where I see opportunities, but if others do feel free to let me know.
 
I haven't said where Hoshi is in the RP but if you can figure out what planet she is based on the clues in Mizu no Iro we can get there faster than other Mishhu ships (and have your character to thank for it). Any guesses?

GM post is a timeskip. I guess an hour? But don't hold me to that, everyone thinks time works different in space. Some time has passed, we're at the system where the signal from Hoshi came from. Where is your character, what are their thoughts? Posting to place them before anything intense really happens is the key here.

Hey, we won an award from Ongoing Worlds! raz will tell you that last year Crimson Levy won for Kaiyo but I'm proud this year's (well, 2024's) participants and win was for Kaiyo proper. It was the RP from Urtullan where we were in mechs battling the NMX prototype mecha and Hoshi and Charbon spoke for the first time and she chose to spare her life.

We've been honored by the Tournament of Simulations many times, and I'm glad to see the current crew contribute to the YSS Kaiyō's legacy of excellence both in- and out-of-character. The ToS is graded objectively by people who aren't a part of this community so it's always a true honor to see it — to see that we simply write good sci-fi and are repeatedly recognized for it by readers without an agenda. What matters here on SARP isn't the length of one's posts or how often a RPer can tap them out, but is rather the quality of the story that comes together when all's said and done.

And the Kaiyō is second to none. Never let anybody contend we are not the best plot here or that we are not writing the greatest legend the Kagami Galaxy has ever seen.

The 2024 ToS announcement post says we've won 4. We've actually won 5 because The Crimson Levy is Kaiyō's mission 27, so this plot is tied for most all-time awards there.

So, again, good job everyone. I look forward to continuing our adventures for the glory of Yamatai with you all. Here's to the finest crew in Starfleet the Star Army 🥂
 
Hello Kaiyo folks. Unfortunately I did ban raz from the forum today.

No matter what happens your RP is safe and I want the Kaiyo to continue be successful. I'm sure Ame will have a plan for Kaiyo in the coming days and she'll keep you guys posted.

We've got a GM post! It redirected from the previous thread to my "GM cinematic" thread which is going to be open to the plot soon. Been planning this awhile so I'm happy to see the small strokes coming together.

In other news, raz and I have been getting harassed by a certain member for the better part of two years. You may have seen it come up in the OOC thread when it's been rough. Uuuuh apparently that member's had a stroke and when raz said "Watch out, whenever we do something unmatched someone has a stroke." It spelled the end for his time on SARP and he's been banned for it despite not knowing he's had a stroke. Hopefully he'll be able to return one day but for now, Kaiyo will be leaving the site.

Wes and I are on the same page and have a plan in place to get the forum going. Kaiyo will be celebrating ten years since forming this year and I'd like it to be a good birthday : ) Maybe that means celebrating with close friends (you the players)! You guys are on the same page, too, and that makes me happy.
 
Removing someone with an integral position in the plot is more than a little disruption. Doing so over a common turn of phrase made without knowledge of someone's IRL history is misguided. Calling it spreading private IRL info is a deliberately uncharitable interpretation of intent. From what I know of the situation, this is a case of someone being unable to block and move on falling back on personal trauma to get rid of someone they don't like by weaponizing an admin. Stupid, stupid, stupid decision.

I do promise I'll do what I can to see if we can mend this rift and not have Kaiyo have to leave the site as a result. I know that happened in the past with Ayenee forums temporarily, but you are a verifiable award winning set of writers and it would be a blow to SARP to have to go through that again.
 
Helloooooo and happy to have you officially! I've been talking with SchererSoban on a new character for awhile, before the forum swap, and am happy to have him again! One of the star players from the Kuvexian war era!

I also GM posted! This was one where I liked some posts so much but knew mine wouldn't compare. I kind of described what is happening more than moved things along, I feel like that falls on your shoulders this round!
