OOC YSS Kaiyō II Discussion

Just a quick heads-up. I got everyone awards for the mission I GM'd. Seemed like a good time. Included the last chance at old awards that went obsolete by the next mission (Second Battle of Elysia) for characters who'd earned those before the cutoff.

ty for so many jp posts!! it's been amazing to see the story unfold so well, let alone quickly!!

Did you guys enjoy it? Do you want to JP missions more often? It feels like you took to it well generally, but I want to be sure.

raz and I will JP questioning Charbon on the ship and then next mission (the hunt for Hoshi) will begin early next week!!

I definitely liked it, with how busy my schedule has been lately it was a lot easier for me to participate in than normal SPs (I continue to be very sorry for my inactivity lately. It should become easier for me in a month or so)

It was fine. Because it was a slow multi-day JP, it seemed basically the same as SPing to me. I don't really understand the difference to others and think we should simply post at that pace as SPs. But that said, it was an efficient way to get approximately 50 separate forum posts worth of RP (I counted) done quickly.

I've been with rp groups that used extended JPs in the past and it can make things flow better.

Basically say everyones on the bridge, starting a new mission and the captain has to give a series of orders to the various players but doesn't want to have to wait.

For an SP post the captain would blitz through it, then everyone would do their thing and chronologically it can end up in a mess.

If you have a JP document hanging around the captain can do something like the following:

captain gives orders to Helm

<Tag Helm>

captain gives orders to Sensors

<Tag Sensors>

Captain gives orders to Engineering

<Tag Engineering>

There are some downsides. It can effect flow negatively as much as positively, and something might happen earlier that negates something that happens later which can lead to slight retcons. Generally speaking though it can reduce idle times for those wanting to post. If the current moment is waiting on something they might be able to go back and flesh something out, or do some character development with another player.

It does also mean that people can edit previous actions, but that web app you use does have a history, and you're all adults.

New thread with old faces! @raz @Gunhand4171 @Gles @Nameless @Megabirb @Sunny D @aitoseigi and @Caelesetos!

ICly anyone that was on the ship has been negating Mishhu subterfuge in Abwehr all while looking for Hoshi for the past few months. Sif, Rio, Erika, and Charbon were not on the ship for this. I'll be making news posts about this here n there to fill in that IC action.

People were asking for non-combat so please mingle, chat IC, etc. Keep posting quick, though, so I don't worry about whether we'll finish this mission by the new year.

Any questions? just shoot!

Btw, I appreciate all of your thoughts on JPs. I think we'll use them for a chunk of a mission like we just did here and there and social RPs. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Time to showcase my ignorance, because I am still rather new to this SA thing and certainly have never had a character long enough to get promoted, but: just how does this work, OOCly? Is it just a matter of updating the wiki, does there have to be an IC post as such, and how does that mesh with any presumable training that would be done? Asuka is presumably on a combat engineer track but I've also assumed that, being at the bottom of the ladder, she's had little in the way of specialized training in the field. Or am I completely off on all of this? Just want to be sure before I start throwing posts out.

I'll send everyone's orders soon. Typically, enlisted in the Star Army can upgrade one rank per mission/adventure. I think we're counting Elysia and Rabaal as essentially one extended engagement, so Asuka will go up one rank. You don't need to do extra IC training or anything. Here's the wiki page for promotions that explains way more if you want to look at it.

Hey, just a heads-up @aitoseigi and @Caelesetos. You should disregard the orders threads made for your characters by demibear. I'm not sure why someone not a GM of this plot is sending them, but you'll get real orders from myself or @Ametheliana in the coming days. Sorry for the confusion.

Oooh yeah. I'd prefer those orders to a) come from the plot GM and b) not be like "you're being defaulted to Legion 777" when it's been stated in the mew-mew news that they're attached to the Kaiyo now. These are incongruous with what has already happened and inappropriate to be the way these characters get their orders.

ICly they don't make sense and OOC I even asked demibear to not write orders moving them.

This shouldn't be too much of an issue- I'll wait to talk to @Wes and hopefully get those orders threads deleted. DW about it if you're a kaiyo player! : pinkthumbsupmoji :

I want to start the briefing but also want to make sure everyone's got their talking out of the way.

Is everyone ready to move on or need a few more days?

Another player violated my Player’s Rights by misrepresenting my character in RP so I will not be replying until the offending post is rectified. Proceed without me if you have to. Sorry if this makes the briefing less cool but you can thank the same group who keeps targeting me, Ame, and this plot as a whole for another disruption.

Just to clarify since Raz is spreading misinformation and making accusations...I've already reviewed the supposed "violation" and it was literally just Aiko's name being mentioned in a post as "Aiko-chan." Player rights do not prohibit a character from being mentioned by other characters. There was no violation of player rights.
